Vacationing in Alabama

For their 40th wedding anniversary, Chris' parents wanted to take a trip with the whole family.  We found a rent house in north Alabama that was about the same drive distance for all.  We spent a week eating fantastic food, checking out some beautiful views, hiking, swimming, and fishing all while soaking up some great family time.
Our Cabin...beautiful.

Easter 2014

The Easter Bunny AND the Tooth Fairy visited us on the same night!  Adam decided he was ready to put 2 teeth (he's been saving them) under his pillow to see if he could get a $2 bill.  He must have been a very good boy because the Tooth Fairy came through in a pinch, but left a note saying this was a one-time thing for a very special boy!  Both boys were very excited Easter morning when they discovered the bunny had come and their baskets were full of treats!  Adam got the Scooby Doo/WWE movie he's been wanting and Caleb got the Kane (WWE) action figure he's been wanting.  Guess the Easter Bunny knew this was a house that was full of wrestling fans.

My pictures never turn out like the ones on Pinterest!  Apparently those kids don't squint and whine!

Overnight At The Zoo

Adam's Cub Scout Den, lead by Chris, just recently had a sleepover at the zoo.  For a very reasonable price per person, they got supper Friday night (pizza), a personal zoo keeper guide, an after-dark treasure hunt throughout the zoo with behind the scenes access to the kitchen, live animal talks, a movie, breakfast Saturday morning.  They got to feed the giraffes in their enclosure, a train ride, a t-shirt, and all-day access to the zoo.  Chris and I thought it would be fun for the boys, but it ended up being a great time for the parents too.   We highly recommend it!

I could not get over how Huuuuuuuuge the giraffes were up close.  Toe-to-toe, I came up to his knee.

Hunting Eggs at Church

Our annual Easter Celebration at church was a huge success.  The kids loved all the activities and didn't get too competitive when it came time to hunt eggs.

Easter Hat Parade

Of course Caleb would know exactly what he wanted to wear for the Easter Hat Parade at school.  No changing his mind!  "I want a big chick!  Not an Easter Bunny!"  So,  after walking down many aisles at the craft store and dollar store, we figured out how to build it and then stuck it together with spit, glue, and a prayer.

Our Soccer Player

Caleb is our soccer player and has pretty good skills for a youngster.  He has joined the Grasshoppers and they've won their first two games, with the help of Caleb's 3 goals.  He definitely loves to win.

2 goals!

Our Baseball Player

Adam has started playing with a new league and a new team this year, the Blue Jays.  After a strong start, he's had to overcome some anxiety issues with striking out, but seems to be finding his stride again.  He loves playing and since the weather has finally turned to Spring, he practices outside everyday!
