The Holeman's participate in the Alzheimer's Walk.

This Saturday, the local Alzheimer's Service put on their annual 5K/1Mile Walk/Run on the LSU campus. I decided to sign us up b/c my Papaw is suffering from Alzheimer's. It ended up being much larger than I expected. We got out there early and went around to all kinds of booths collecting everything from Frisbees to pedometers. Adam spent some time in the kid's section getting his face painted and playing some games to win candy. The walk was huge!! There were so many people and between Adam and I we carried up the rear. We stopped to play on the Indian Mounds, jump from parking stripe to parking stripe, and guzzle water. It was soooo humid. I think we completed the "1 mile" in a little over an hour and I'm not embarrassed!! At least we weren't the very last ones! This was a great event to take part in and I'm glad we did it. It also made it very apparent how many people suffer or know someone suffering from this disease. Pray for a cure soon!

I finally got to visit my sister in Florida...

This post is a little out of order, but a couple weekends ago, I flew to visit my sister, Teresa in St. Augustine, FL. She's been there over a year and this was my first trip and I got to go alone!!! We had a blast relaxing and window shopping, kayaking, eating!! I was nervous about kayaking while 7 months pregnant, but I had a blast! It wasn't that hard in the inter coastal waterway. There was some current, but not too bad. We saw a sea turtle right beside us...made my trip. Teresa also surprised me with massages one day that were amazing. The only problem was my masseuse referred to pregnant women as "Earth Mothers"...I was torn between throwing up and laughing out loud. It was a fantastic trip and a beautiful city. Can't wait to take the family back next time.

Adam Goes to his First LSU Football Game!

The first time Adam tried to run down the Indian Mounds...he failed miserably. It was hilarious once we found out he was ok and there was no grass in his teeth.

This past Saturday, Chris and I took Adam to his first LSU football game against UL at Lafayette. We've all tailgated together many times, but we've never taken him into a game. Adam was so excited and asked about it constantly for three days prior. We tailgated with 2 sets of friends and walked and walked and walked around the campus to experience different things. We played on the Indian Mounds, went to Mike the Tiger's new $6 million enclosure, picked up acorns to collect, watched The Golden Band From Tigerland march to the field, watched the players drive in on buses and walk down the hill to the stadium, and finally rode 4 escalators up to our seats. We were in the upper deck with our backs on the wall on the 50 yard line. I got dizzy walking up to row FF, but our view of the game, the sunset, and the entire state of Louisiana was outstanding. The day was too much for Adam and he dozed off for 2 quarters and halftime on Mommy (I was then glad I had the wall to lean against). Our friends from North Louisiana drove down to go to the game with us. Adam woke up for the 4th quarter in time to eat a hot-dog, cheer a little bit and see the Tigers win! We had a great day. The next morning we all went to our favorite spot for beignets and some funny pictures. After the weekend came to a close, Adam and I enjoyed a 3 hour nap!! Yeah!!

Toddler Nature Adventure

Adam is also signed up every Wed. this month for a Toddler Nature class at the local Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center. Today's theme was rain. He got to decorate his own umbrella...with Mommy's help, listen to a story about rain, pet a baby turtle, and have a snack of "rain grapes". He loves the umbrella and apparently it also works to chase the dogs in the house.

Another Camping Adventure

We went camping again over Labor Day weekend about an hour from our house, just south of New Orleans. We really enjoyed relaxing, cooking, eating, and playing. They had a small water park that we used one afternoon. Adam loved the small water slide and Chris took him out in the wave pool to challenge the big waves. We ate so well: stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon, stuffed pork loin wrapped in bacon (notice a theme), breakfast tacos, burgers, yummmmmm! Adam chased bunnies and armadillos and loved riding his bike all over the park. Can't wait til next time!

Adam goes to his Little Gym Class

I signed Adam up for a toddler class at Little Gym a few weeks ago. He goes once a week and loves it. I also get a workout b/c I'm supposed to model things for him. We looked for a class like this because he's got a ton of energy and I'm getting slower and slower these days. It stimulates him, wears him out, and he learns a lot of new skills. Great investment. The other night, Chris got to go to a make-up class with us. We had a great time.
