Everything was Adam-Sized!!

We picked Mema up at the airport in New Orleans this morning and then headed to the LA Children's Museum. Adam's favorite exhibits were the Winn-Dixie Grocery Store. He chose corn-on-the-cob, dog-food, cake mix, 2 loaves of bread, and 3-4 pastries. Totally typical of what he would really choose. He loved getting the receipt and pushing the cart around like mommy. He also obsessed over the air-hockey game. Mema and I had a great time just watching him get into stuff and figure things out on his own. It was a good day.

Our Visit to see Papaw

Adam and I just got back from visiting my grandpa, his great-grandpa in Greensboro, North Carolina. He absolutely loved the 4 airplane rides and 1 tram ride. He got to spend some quality time with Papaw playing with play-doh, a matching game, eating meals together and playing baseball. We had a wonderful trip and made some more memories. We also got to visit the Greensboro Nature Center and Adam loved the animals and the interactive museum. He wasn't too sure about the T-Rex though.

Mom Endorsement

After having been embarrassed and driven to tears on numerous occasions while taking Adam to get a haircut, I ordered the Norelco Kids Clippers. I figured if he was going to throw a fit, I'd do it at home for free and cry privately. I also knew I'm about to have 2 boys who will need haircuts monthly. It'll add up. So, after letting Adam play with the powder, acting like an idiot to make him laugh, and promising ice cream, we had the best haircutting experience ever!!

Update on the Ivy...

I don't think it's ever good to hear, "Oh my God!" from your doctor and her nurses. I went for a follow-up this morning b/c the rashes were still getting worse. And that was her reaction. She immediately called a dermatologist and got me in for an appointment. That doctor also had the same reaction with the addition of, "and you're pregnant. You must be miserable." How much do I pay these people for their "diagnosis"??? So, after debating pros/cons, the derm dr. gave me the macho steroid and a few prescripts for some creams and antibiotics b/c apparently many of my rashes are infected as well. I "should be doing much better in a few days". I'll let you know. Some of the side-effects of the steroids are moodiness (check), anxiety (check), and insomnia (check). I'm not putting this all out there for a pity-party, I'm just getting it off my chest. Chris and Adam have been wonderful through all of this. I'm really lucky that I have both of them.

So, it's worse. Still breaking out in new exciting places. I'm officially a leper. Dr. again tomorrow hopefully. I'll keep you posted.

Attack of Poison Ivy!!...Again!

So, I went to the neighborhood "weeding party" on Saturday morning to help clean up the front entrance and do my share. I pulled weeds, bagged leaves, and never even thought to look for poison ivy and oak in landscaped bushes...Idiot!! I have the worst outbreak I've ever had. The pictures do no justice. The entire perimeter of my face is covered, my neck from chin down and around, my shoulder, both arms, and only a few spots on my legs so far. Being a prego, I can't go to my primary physician b/c he's afraid to dose up a pregnant woman with my normal shot of steroids. So, I went to my obgyn and she helped me out with a different kind of steroid shot in my hip..holy cow it burned!! After 24 hours the shot was doing nothing. I was using a helpful bleach solution that my sister in law recommended. It worked better than any over the counter stuff I have. But, I was still miserable. So, to the Internet I went. The overwhelming home remedy was using bleach. I was not so "ballsy" as some to scrape the wounds and pour pure bleach on them, but I did the diluted bleach bath. I scrubbed with a washcloth and omg it hurt. But, the rubbing and stinging felt better than the constant itch and burn. I couldn't do anything about my face b/c I didn't want to end up with bleach blond hair. So, I've done this once and the drying agent in the bleach kept me from itching for a few hours. Since then I've only dabbed with the bleach solution so as not to dry my entire body out. We'll see how this goes...Still pretty miserable, but at least I've found a remedy that's cheap and only hurts for a bit.

Our Gulf Shores Vacation

Well, nothing disastrous happened on our maiden voyage of using our camper! We had a few hiccups...the awning almost blew away in a quick thunderstorm, forgot the right pots, stuff like that. The beach could have been better. It was really rough and murky. Poor Adam almost got washed away twice. He loved being in the water with one of us, but would not go in by himself. Chris and I both got stung a couple times by jellyfish. But, with all of the little annoyances, it was still a fabulous trip. We absolutely loved hanging out at our campsite and watching Adam have a little freedom to explore. We cooked, organized things, and made lists of what to bring next time to make life a little easier. The beach was very relaxing and with the doses of cloud cover it wasn't too hot. We'll definitely go back as soon as we get a chance. Notice Adam's hands in all the pictures. They were like that the entire time on the beach.

Surrounded by Snakes!!

A friend and I took the kids to Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center that is tucked away in the middle of the city. Neither of us had been before and were so surprised at how huge it was, the number of reptiles they had, and that it was so cheap. They had a couple college kids feeding the snakes when we got there at 9am (trying to beat the heat) and they gave the kids the opportunity to touch some of the snakes. Adam wouldn't do it for awhile, he just watched intensely. Then, after a long inner debate, I told Adam that I would touch one if he would. Ahhhhhh! What a mom will do to give her kid life experiences! I had the willies the whole time I was there, especially b/c they had the cages open. So, we touched two different ones and Adam was very proud to tell Daddy of this when he got home.
