After our week of swimming with Gigi, Adam is an expert 2 year old swimmer. He loves getting rings off the bottom of the pool. He's got a natural floating body, so you have to help him get down by pointing his head toward the bottom. But, he gets up on his own by kicking off the bottom. He also began swimming out from the step on his own, turning, and swimming back to the steps. Gigi worked very hard to teach him how to grab the side as a safety precaution and he is doing much better at that. Chris and Gigi both are very impressed with his flutter kick and that he naturally points his toes...good swimming technique. He was also getting a little too brave with jumping in wherever he felt like it. You really had to watch him because he'd go with no warning...we're still working on correcting that. Chris took him down to touch the bottom of the deep end a few times. Adam loved being thrown up high and then splashing into the water. That sometimes resulted in belly flops, but he still came up smiling. So, thanks to Gigi and Grandpa for spending a week with us and giving Adam personal swim lessons. The lessons and you are priceless.

The Beginning of Swimming Lessons
Chris' parents are in town this week and Gigi is starting daily swimming lessons with Adam. We got some of this video of what he is already doing and I'm going to get more video this week as he progresses. In one day he can already go get rings off the bottom of the pool. Our goals are to work on taking a breath between swimming, diving, and using our arms more. What's amazing is that he has no fear of the water and is totally trusting when we tell him to do something. He definitely has swimming in his blood.

Belly Update
Happy Father's Day!
Chris got LSU tailgating supplies to further outfit our rig for Father's Day. I also spent the day cooking a Pork Chili Verde that he loves. It's filled with jalapenos, tomatillos, anaheim chilies, all hot things. I also made a red velvet cake from my favorite cookbook. It was wonderful and the icing came out tasting like cheesecake. Yummmm!

It's Sooooo Hot!
I know it's partly me and this belly I'm carrying around, but it is so hot here now. We're kissing 100 degrees daily and haven't had rain this month and none in sight. I'm so done with outdoor playdates right now. A friend of mine informed me of a fantastic new playdate option...FREE Movies! There are 3 cinemas in town that show weekly Disney movies for kids for free in the morning. AND IT'S IN THE AIR CONDITION! So, I took Adam to his first movie this week. It was Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa. He did so well. We got a little snack pack from the concession stand that had some popcorn, a little candy, and a kid drink for $3. He devoured it all. He was scared as the movie began and the lights went out and the sound was very loud, so he reached over and grabbed my hand for encouragement. When it was over he kept saying, "Big Movie" and holding his hands wide to tell people about the big screen. We are going back next week.

Swimming At Grandma's
We spent the afternoon at Chris' grandparents' pool.
Chris took this fine picture with our unbreakable, underwater camera as he was playing with the vent in the pool. Who's having more fun???

Adam started out a little skiddish, but by the end he was getting a little too brave. Dad had to save him once, but he came up all smiles. He loves the water!
