The Beginning of Swimming Lessons

Chris' parents are in town this week and Gigi is starting daily swimming lessons with Adam. We got some of this video of what he is already doing and I'm going to get more video this week as he progresses. In one day he can already go get rings off the bottom of the pool. Our goals are to work on taking a breath between swimming, diving, and using our arms more. What's amazing is that he has no fear of the water and is totally trusting when we tell him to do something. He definitely has swimming in his blood.

Belly Update

So I'm 17 weeks now and my belly is popping out some. It's definately getting in the way of sleeping comfortably. I'm feeling some movement now which is pretty cool. We've got the ultrasound scheduled in about 3 weeks and will hopefully find out more about this baby! More to come.

Happy Father's Day!

Chris got LSU tailgating supplies to further outfit our rig for Father's Day. I also spent the day cooking a Pork Chili Verde that he loves. It's filled with jalapenos, tomatillos, anaheim chilies, all hot things. I also made a red velvet cake from my favorite cookbook. It was wonderful and the icing came out tasting like cheesecake. Yummmm!

It's Sooooo Hot!

I know it's partly me and this belly I'm carrying around, but it is so hot here now. We're kissing 100 degrees daily and haven't had rain this month and none in sight. I'm so done with outdoor playdates right now. A friend of mine informed me of a fantastic new playdate option...FREE Movies! There are 3 cinemas in town that show weekly Disney movies for kids for free in the morning. AND IT'S IN THE AIR CONDITION! So, I took Adam to his first movie this week. It was Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa. He did so well. We got a little snack pack from the concession stand that had some popcorn, a little candy, and a kid drink for $3. He devoured it all. He was scared as the movie began and the lights went out and the sound was very loud, so he reached over and grabbed my hand for encouragement. When it was over he kept saying, "Big Movie" and holding his hands wide to tell people about the big screen. We are going back next week.

Swimming At Grandma's

We spent the afternoon at Chris' grandparents' pool.
Chris took this fine picture with our unbreakable, underwater camera as he was playing with the vent in the pool. Who's having more fun???

Adam started out a little skiddish, but by the end he was getting a little too brave. Dad had to save him once, but he came up all smiles. He loves the water!

Throwing Boomerangs

Last week, Adam and I spent every morning at Vacation Bible School. The theme this year was Australia. So, today, Chris and Adam went out in the field behind the house to throw boomerangs. Adam is already better than mommy...which isn't saying much.

Adam and Mommy Moment

So yesterday, I was catching up on my So You Think You Can Dance episode on the DVR and Adam was finishing up breakfast. He came into the living room with me and leaned against the couch for a minute, watching the show. I wasn't paying much attention when he strolled out into the middle of the room, in a wide open area, and started to dance in a whirley, two-year-old fashion. He twirled and spun and clapped and just looked so cute. Then, when a couple came on the show and did some kind of ballroom dancing, he watched them for a moment and then he looked at me, came over and grabbed my hand and said, "Mommy, dance." I could not believe it! My son, at 2 years old, asked me to dance. My heart melted. We proceeded to cut loose on the "dance floor" and mimic what we saw on the show. Loved it!!
